Felix Auger-Aliassime failed to reach the Stockholm Open final losing out to Shapovalov but it was enough to secure a new career-high ranking.
Felix Auger-Aliassime played well in Stockholm but his journey ended in the semifinal. He faced Denis Shapovalov in the semifinals and lost but he did just enough to achieve an important career milestone. Auger-Aliassime sought to reach a 9th career final giving him a chance to win the maiden trophy of his career but he got a solid consolation prize.
The number of points he gathered in the Swedish capital will be enough for him to move from 11th to 10th on the new ATP Rankings which will mark the highest he has ever been ranked. It was a solid season overall for Felix Auger-Aliassime who played some of his best tennis in important events like Grand Slams. That gave him enough points to debut in the top 10 at the end of the year.
Auger-Aliassime was supposed to play for Canada at the Davis Cup Finals but he was forced to pull out after experiencing some knee pain. He will return in 2022.
