As the 2024 Australian Open draws closer, Greek tennis star Stefanos Tsitsipas shared his thoughts on falling to Novak Djokovic in the final of the 2023 edition of the event.
Tsitsipas played some extraordinary tennis to reach the final, but was overcome by some sublime play from the Serbian at the last hurdle. Djokovic appeared determined to reclaim the title has he had captured on 9 previous occasions, and dominated Tsitsipas to clinch the Norman Brooks Challenge Cup for the 10th time in his career.

The World No.6 is currently in Perth, Australia for the United Cup, but he took some time to speak about his run to the Australian Open final 12 months ago. Tsitsipas has had good results in Melbourne over the years, having made semifinal appearances in 2019, 2021 and 2022.
"This year’s final was close," recalled Tsitsipas. "I was there, playing a final at the Aussie Open and it felt like that was my moment, big things were coming. I wasn’t able to close through, but I really need to keep on pushing.
"Novak has a lot of finals under his belt and I feel like with the right consistency, with the right attitude, moments like this would occur again. There’s a lot of effort behind that and I’m willing to keep up with all the intensity that is required in order to get there."
