The 3rd Grand Slam of the season, Wimbledon is due to start tomorrow and with an abundance of great first-round matches here are some of the ones you should not miss at any cost.
Nick Kyrgios vs Ugo Humbert
This is a stellar matchup of two players whose game is tailor-made for grass. Both possess a massive serve and love to play aggressively. The duo played in Australia this year and it went to 5 sets with Kyrgios winning a thriller.
Jan-Lennard Struff vs Daniil Medvedev
Once again a very good first-round matchup between two players who enjoy playing on grass. They faced each other in Halle two weeks ago with Struff getting an easy win. Things should be different at Wimbledon due to very different conditions but it could be a long one.
Sebastian Korda vs Alex De Minaur
Not many players had a better prep season for Wimbledon than Alex De Minaur who won Eastbourne and is 8-2 on grass. Korda is also a very good grass player which he demonstrated in Halle. All of that makes this a very polarizing matchup between two players who will have many more clashes like this one.
Daniel Evans - Feliciano Lopez
A very fascinating clash of different styles between two players that have made their grass games work. Lopez is a proven grass player and very tough to beat. Evans grew up on grass despite not having an aggressive game typical of a grass player.
Andy Murray vs Nikoloz Basilashvili
Another brilliant matchup between two players with different playstyles. Basilashvili is a very tough player to beat when his forehand is working and if Andy catches him on a good day it will be trouble. Murray makes his return to Wimbledon for the first time since 2017 and it should be an emotional rollercoaster for the 2x champion.
