Stefanos Tsitsipas is expected to carry on with stellar performance on grass but the Greek is realistic about his lack of playing time on grass.
Tsitsipas always spoke about being a player that grains confidence by playing matches and winning matches and he didn't much of both on the grass in his career so far. The Greek has been a standout performer in 2021 but he is realistic about his chances at
Wimbledon. He said:
“I haven't really played much on grass. I've practised a couple of times. I'm feeling all right on grass. I think it will take a few matches for me to start gaining more confidence. I just want to see how every single match that I get to play here will evolve, and what are my opportunities going to be."
Tsitsipas possesses a game that suits grass well and he admitted he likes the surface despite a lack of good results on it:
“Honestly, grass court is a surface that I love. But probably two years ago, I didn't really have the best result, the result that I expected. It was kind of something that tore me apart. I was a completely different person to who I am now.” Tsitsipas reflected"
Tsitsipas elected not to play any grass events ahead of Wimbledon and asked about what he did before the major he said:
“[I] spent a few days in the countryside just outside London.
I had a few days off for relaxation, some good physiotherapy, and rehab
for my body to be ready for the grass-court season. I
started practising like almost eight days ago, getting back to the new
style of tennis, which is the grass-court tennis.
