Nikola Pilic represented now-defunct Yugoslavia for the entirety of his career winning six titles and reaching the French Open final and the Croatian believes that after 2019 Djokovic is the best.
The 2019 Wimbledon final is an iconic match for many different reasons. We have some of the greatest to ever do it in Djokovic and Federer compete at a historic venue. It's was a brutal match that saw Federer squander a tremendous chance to win a 21st grand slam at his favourited place. It was a tremendous comeback win by Djokovic against possibly the greatest ever.
It was simply a match that will be forever carved in tennis history. Former tennis player Nikola Pilic saw it as a turning point for Djokovic. He said:
"I never said Djokovic is the GOAT until the 2019 Wimbledon final. After that win, I put numbers on the table: he leads H2H meetings vs Federer and Nadal, will win more Slams, holds the record for the most weeks at world No. 1. He is the best."
It's a fair point by Pilic who makes a strong case for Djokovic about being the best. The Serbian has many statistical advantages over both Federer and Nadal and he is still playing his best tennis. It's hard to see how Djokovic does not extend the records even further especially with Federer and Nadal dealing with injuries at the moment.
