The odds of
Novak Djokovic competing at the 2024
ATP Finals are still up in the air, as the Serbian has yet to make any official announcement regarding his participation at the elite event. However, former British No.1 Greg Rusedski believes Djokovic will opt to skip this year's edition.
Although the 24-time Grand Slam champion is still alive in the race for qualification for Turin, his decision to skip the recent Paris Masters doesn't bode well for his participation in Turin. Djokovic himself has stated his intentions to shift his focus to Majors, as he hopes to add more titles to his already record tally.
Rusedski believes fans won't see Djokovic in Turin
The Serbian is currently sixth in the Race to Turin, with the top eight players qualifying for the year-ending event. However, Rusedski is of the opinion that the 37-year old will prioritize his health and opt to skip the elite event.
"I will be surprised if he plays in Turin or plays any more tennis this season, but never discount him,” the former world No. 4 told Tennis Channel. "For me, if Novak is 100 per cent healthy and gets fit, he is in the mix to win every Major again.
"Don’t discount Novak. Health is your wealth, the older you become the smarter you have to become and he knows these things. He has looked at Federer and Rafa, he has looked at the competition and knows he has to change a few things to beat the likes of Sinner and Alcaraz back to back."
