Francisco Cerundolo is on fire right now with the Argentine player picking up consecutive win number seven on clay by beating Rublev 6-4 6-2.
Beatin Andrey Rublev in Hamburg is hard as the Russian is a former champion of the event winning it in 2020. Cerundolo arrived in Hamburg after lifting his maiden trophy in Bastad the week before and he continued playing well in Hamburg beating Altmaier in round one. Round two saw him take on Rublev and he smashed him after starting slowly.
Rublev opened well in this match taking a 3-0 lead against the Argentine who was missing a lot. Cerundolo plays attacking tennis and he rarely strays away from that. He didn't in this one either and he continued playing and saw the match turn into his favour.
Cerundolo battled back to make it 2-3 but Rulev broke his serve again for the 4-2 lead. It was then when Cerundolo started his onslaught winning four games in a row to close out the opening set 6-4. The 2nd set was even more impressive for the Argentine who smashed Rublev 6-2 to secure a quarterfinal in Hamburg. Just an incredibly high level from Cerundolo in the past 10 days.
