Taylor Fritz reacted to the full nominees' list for the ATP Awards on Twitter questioning whether he should have been nominated.
Fritz was left somewhat disappointed not to be nominated in the Most Improved category as the American felt like he deserved. Four players were nominated: Alcaraz, Cressy, Draper and Rune with all of them well worthy of the award.
Fritz improved too but he was rather established prior to this year and his improvement has not been as significant as that of the other players. Alcaraz turned himself from a top 40 ranked player into the world number one and grand slam champion. Cressy improved dramatically over the year winning an ATP trophy with Draper and Rune taking themselves from talents to established players.
Fritz was hovering around the top 20 for some years now and finally made the breakthrough into the top 10 this year earning a spot at the ATP Finals due to some pullouts. He felt like he was worthy of a nomination:
"Feel like I could’ve been nominated for most improved.... not saying I should win it or anything crazy like that but maybe just a nom."
