Gael Monfils recently wrote a Twitter post explaining that his recent withdrawals have been due to an adverse reaction to the booster doste he took recently.
There is no confirmation that that is true but the Frenchman came under criticism by many for allegeadly pushing anti-vax propaganda. Monfils wrote in his statement:
"Hello everyone, I wanted to give you some news following my recent rest in tournaments.
I suffered a small health problem (probably following my third dose of
vaccine). On the advice of my doctor, I decided to take time to rest. Unfortunately, I won't be able to play the Davis Cup next week."
The criticism prompted Monfils to share another update explaining that he has no regrets about taking the vaccine and that he was only looking to be transparent:
"My goal was simply to be transparent with you and not to push anti vax propaganda. Let's stop appropriating everyone's words for political purposes or
simply to serve your convictions. I don't regret getting vaccinated at
all. Everyone does what he wants. I feel better and better and I hope
to be ready for Indian Wells!"
