Gael Monfils had a fabulous start to the 2022 season but failed to play for close to a month now due to what he described as a small health glitch.
Monfils was slated to play several events after the Australian Open but he pulled out of all of them with many unaware of what was going on. Monfils now shared an update on his status on Twitter explaining that he suffered a small 'health glitch' linking it to his 3rd booster vaccine.
Monfils did not elaborate what is the reason but noted that his doctor recommended prolonged rest after presumably suffering from some sort of adverse reaction from the vaccine. He wrote:
'Hello everyone, I wanted to give you some news following my recent withdrawals from tournaments. I suffered a small health glitch (probably following my third dose of vaccine). 'On the advice of my doctor, I decided to take some time to rest. So unfortunately I will not be able to play the Davis Cup next week. I hope to be able to return in the United States.'
As he noted in his status, he plans to return during the North American stretch yet it's unknown whether he will make it in time for the Indian Wells Masters or Miami Masters.
