Alexander Zverev arrived late for the Rome Masters but the German is happy about it having won the Madrid Open last week.
For Alexander Zverev it will be a short turnaround after winning the Madrid Open on Sunday. He will need to adjust quickly to the huge difference in altitude which changes the game quite a bit. Zverev is not bothered by it saying:
“It’s a good problem to have. If you are coming so late from Madrid, it means you've done well-I would like to have that problem always at tournaments.”
For Zverev it will be key to keep the good form up which is something he was able to do so in the past:
“Usually when I find my form, I don't have a problem maintaining it. If you look at the past history a little bit, when I won Madrid in 2018, I made the finals here. That doesn't mean I'm going to make finals here again. I hope I can continue this."
Zverev did admit it will be tricky as it's a completely different event with completely different conditions:
“This is obviously a completely different event, completely different conditions. I need some getting used to time. Yeah, I hope I continue playing the same way. We'll see how that goes then.”
Despite that Zverev is looking forward to this week hoping he can back his Madrid Open form up:
“I’m looking forward to this week. I’m looking forward to being able to back my form up. I hope I can do that.”
He will play Hugo Dellien later today. Follow that match and all other matches here.
