Carlos Alcaraz was left shocked and stunned as
Grigor Dimitrov thumped him at the
Miami Open 6-4, 6-2 on Thursday night to seal a spot in the semi-finals. This ends Alcaraz' hope of sealing the so-called Sunshine Double after winning Indian Wells.
After defeat, Alcaraz was honest with his assessment saying that the way Dimitrov played made him feel like a teenager. Similar to Gael Monfils' response when he played Alcaraz, he didn't know what to do and how to get past him and after a previously incredible head to head record pointed to an Alcaraz win, he sunk without trace.
"I feel, I have a lot of frustrations right now, because he made me feel like I'm 13 years old. You know, it was crazy. I was talking to my team saying that I don't know what I have to do. I don't know, you know, his weakness. I don't know anything," said Alcaraz.
But also the frustration was confounded as in his view he thinks he played well through it all. "That's why I have frustration right now, but, you know, in the thought of tennis, I left the court happy with my level. I think I played good tennis. I mean, I left the court thinking that probably I had to change my game a little bit earlier, but anyway, I feel like I played a good tennis. Not perfect but a good one."
