Simona Halep is still banned from tennis after testing positive for a banned substance but she'll have a hearing at the end of February as she tries to prove her innocence.
The tennis world was shocked to hear Simona Halep tested for a banned substance after her US Open exit. She provided a second sample but it too showed the same substance which caused the ban. She proclaimed her innocence and started a battle to prove it with a pivotal hearing to take place.
It was confirmed by her former coach Darren Cahill who recently touched upon Simona during a guest appereance on a podcast. He said:
“I think a lot about Simona and I feel bad every time I think about the experiences she goes through. I made a statement about Simona Halep’s case and I’m willing to die next to those words because of her integrity and her DNA. There’s no way she’s cheating. She is a great woman and a great person. There’s no way she could have done the wrong thing. I wish her good luck. I don’t have much news, but I understand there will be a hearing in February that will give her a chance to present her case.”
It was reported in December that Halep found where the banned substance came from and it was due to an incorrectly labelled supplement that she was taking. Now it's about proving that so she can have the suspension lifted.
