Alexander Zverev has said that it would be a dream to face Rafael Nadal one more time albeit with re-writing prior wrongs in mind as opposed to anything else as he begins his Rome Open campaign this week.
In 2022, Zverev was en route to the biggest win of his career at Roland Garros when disaster struck with a horror ankle injury putting him on the shelf and seeing him leave the court in floods of tears on crutches.
From the ecstasy of being on the verge of something special to something truly horrific, Zverev said that he wants to do it one more time just to battle the inner demons surrounding the tie.
"I have mixed feelings and mixed emotions obviously about that match, about playing him there just simply because it was one of the best tennis matches I've ever played in my career, but it was the worst ending I've ever had to a tennis match in my career," Zverev said.
"I would love to do it one more time just simply to kind of have a different ending to those memories, right? That's just something in my mind. I would love to play him one more time. I would love to play him in a final or semifinal, in a big match again. I think that would be great for both of us. We'll see how it will be for him."
