Stan Wawrinka started practising on a tennis court recently and the veteran is eager to return to the courts in the next few months.
Multiple injuries and setbacks during recovery have Wawrinka now away from tennis for well over a year. It's not yet clear when he will return but he is nearing the time because he started practising on a tennis court as of yesterday. In a recent interview, he did talk about Djokovic whom he defeated in two grand slam finals.
He said:
"Novak Djokovic was always one of the Big-3 but I liked playing him the most. His play suits me the most, even though he has beaten me more times than I can count. "
Speaking to Eurosport, Wawrinka further admitted that he believes that Djokovic fears him:
"I know he fears me, mostly in Grand Slams and I feel that stepping on to the court. He plays at his highest level against me because he knows what I'm capable of."
He also spoke about the 2014 Australian Open final when Wawrinka defeated Djokovic for his maiden trophy. He admitted to doubting himself in the match:
"[Against Novak Djokovic at the 2014 Australian Open] I started doubting myself, and lost the first set 2-6. I managed to get into the match anyway and made it into the fifth set. I told myself, 'this time I will make it and I won't let him get away. It is my time' That is what happened and it took me to another level in my career."
