Spaniard Carlos Alcaraz has been touted as the future of tennis, and renown tennis coach Rick Macci is of the opinion that the rising youngster could have double digit Grand Slam titles to his name by the time her chooses to retire.
The 21-year old burst into the spotlight in 2022, winning his first ATP Masters 1000 title at the Miami Open at the age of 18. The Spaniard would subsequently climb up the ATP rankings, capturing several more titles and clinching the World No.1 ranking in the process.
Alcaraz won his maiden Grand Slam title at the 2022 US Open, and would go on to add three more Majors to his tally. The former World No.1 captured the 2023 Wimbledon title, before successfully defending his SW19 title the next year, in addition to winning the 2024 Roland Garros trophy.
Macci, who trained several tennis legends including Serena Williams, Maria Sharapova and Andy Roddick, has spoken of his admiration for Alcaraz on numerous occasions. The American coach took to social media to praise the Spaniard, stating the youngster could win at least 10 career Grand Slam titles if he improves his return game during matches.
"Carlos is the most gifted player on tour," wrote Macci on Twitter. "He has all the shots. He runs like a deer and has no fear. When he locks in a little more and puts more returns back in Play Double Figure Grand Slams will come his Way."
Alcaraz is currently competing at the ABN AMRO Open in Rotterdam, where he defeated familiar foe Botic van de Zandschulp to advance to the round of 16.
