American talent Jenson Brooksby is collecting admirers rather quickly with his unique tennis style that is somewhat rare in today's tennis.
Legendary tennis coach Jose Higueras thinks that most players play the same way nowadays but Jenson Brooksby is an exception and according to Higueras he is well worth watching. Brooksby, who is enjoying a career-high ranking of No. 43 in
the world, won three Challenger titles last year before finishing
runner-up in Newport.
Speaking to the
Indian Wells tennis website, the Federer ex coach said:
“Jenson comes out, he plays a little different than a lot of the other people do, but he has a great sense of the game, he’s got something that is tough to teach people, in terms of the decisions that he makes, the depth that he creates, and he’s a great competitor—that’s about the best thing that you can say about an athlete."
He further said:
“I don’t go out of my way to watch a lot of people to be honest, because when I’m at tournaments sometimes it can become a little monotonous, because everybody plays pretty much pretty similar, but there are some players that I always make an effort to go watch because I love tennis and I enjoy watching them and Jenson is one of them”.
