Novak
Djokovic shared his opinion that
Carlos Alcaraz is the favorite for the French
Open.
Djokovic
will lose his world No. 1 ranking next week as Carlos Alcaraz will again climb
to the top. Djokovic is defending his title at the 2022 Rome Open, but even if
he wins the title again, he won't gain any points, and Alcaraz will reclaim the
top spot.
Serbian
athlete spoke about Alcaraz's achievement, with whom he has been battling for
the world No. 1 since Alcaraz became the best player in the world. Djokovic has
taken the first position from Alcaraz twice, and now the young star will do the
same with his rival for the second time
“He will
deservedly be #1 after this event.. He is the player to beat on this surface,” ‘Nole’
said.
The
35-year-old tennis player added that Alcaraz is the favorite for Roland Garros,
although it also depends on the participation of the most successful player
Rafael Nadal, who has not yet confirmed his participation in France, where he
has lifted the trophy 14 times.
“It also
depends on if Rafa Nadal will be at Roland Garros, but Alcaraz is certainly 1
of the favorites without any doubt.”
Djokovic
successfully made his debut at the Rome Open against Argentine Tomas Etcheverry
and advanced to the third round, where he will face Bulgarian Grigor Dimitrov,
against whom he has a record of 10-1 in the H2H.
