Basilashvili gives life update on 'super difficult' period: "Drinking painkillers every week and having to find a new solution day by day"

Nikoloz Basilashvili shared with fans that he has gone through "super difficult" years.

The former Indian Wells finalist updated his fans on his feelings in recent years and the difficult moments he has gone through. The Georgian player will drop out of the top 200 in the next ranking update, as he has not found the good results that put him at world No. 16 in 2021.

"Hello everyone. It has been a while, so I would like to give a small update to my fans and people who care about me,”

“I have had super difficult times the last 3-4 years in my life. In my personal as well as in my professional career. The last 3 years I have been struggling with my elbow injury. I have been able to play only within 50% of my capabilities, drinking painkillers every week and having to find a new solution day by day.”

Nikoloz Basilashvili expressed that despite the difficulties, he will do all his efforts to find a solution:

“I had to go on court every time with unbearable pain which drained my energy, took my confidence and all the fun I was getting from playing tennis. I am still not giving up on it, I will do everything I can and I believe I will find a solution.

Thank you for your support," Basilashvili wrote on Instagram.

Former world No. 16 Nikoloz Basilashvili withdrew from the Rome Open in the middle of his qualifying match against local player Flavio Cobolli. Basilashvili has not been able to secure a victory in an ATP main draw since February 6th at the Open Sud de France, where he defeated Constant Letienne in the first round.
