Even for top Italian star, Jannik Sinner, the Centre Court in Rome was deserted on a day which also saw Iga Swiatek and Ons Jabeur - Paula Badosa in the early going.
As well as even for Novak Djokovic during his tie considering his status as a tennis great and one of the Big Three.

But that has been compounded by the tickets being 90 euros onwards for the tournament meaning it is less accessible.
