Jannik Sinner will not be back on tour until at least Rome in May but unlike others who have perhaps besmirched the Italian for his doping ban, Jack Draper is not one.

Draper played out his epic US Open semi-final against Jannik Sinner losing 7-5, 7-6, 6-2 in what was the best run of his career thus far. He has kicked on and aside from injury has become a real force.

Speaking ahead of Indian Wells, he was asked about Sinner and said that he has continued to throw his weight of support behind him. He said that he sends his support and that he is inspired by him. He said that the way he carries himself is a sight to behold.

This unlike the viewpoint of for instance Nick Kyrgios who has used every opportunity to call him out for doping whether intentional or not. This has of course got more so given that he accepted a ban in the end for a few months. He can't defend his Indian Wells title in the coming weeks as a result.

Something that no doubt will pain the Italian who can't train aside from in Monte Carlo either but either way, Draper supports him.

“One thing about Jannik is that he will definitely come back stronger. Obviously this period and last year has been very difficult for him. I always try and send him my support and tell him that I’m very inspired by him and all the things he’s achieving in the game," said Draper to Sky Sports.

“His work ethic, the way he carries himself on and off the court I think is very, very impressive. He's just a very honest genuine kind guy. I think he deserves all the success he is getting and I look forward to seeing him back on the tour.”
