Much has been talked about Novak Djokovic and his vaccination status with the Serbian known for his suspicion towards vaccination in general. The Serbian said earlier in the year that he hopes that mandatory vaccination won't come to tennis but with the Australian Open it might just yet. There is a lot of confusion as to whether player's who are not vaccinated will be able to play at the Australian Open right now.
As we wait for an official and concise ruling, the tennis world is still looking at Novak Djokovic and his vaccination status. The Serbian declined to disclose it during an interview with Serbian newspaper Blic explaining that it's a private matter. American tennis legend Tracy Austin believes he is not and she said:
"For me? I don't know if we will see Novak Djokovic at the 2022 Australian Open. I mean you've got to get the jab to go over there apparently and he says he doesn't want to tell us whether he's gotten the jab. And it seems like to me, if you're not telling us then he probably hasn't."
Commenting further on the Australian Open, Austin said:
"He's (Novak Djokovic) spoken out adamantly that he does not want to get vaccinated. I guess you would still have the opportunity to go over there and quarantine. I mean that's gonna be very tough this year because 2021 everyone was in quarantine, but now the players that have gotten vaccinated wouldn't have to spend time there."
When asked about his vaccination by Blic Djokovic said:
"I will not reveal my status whether I have been vaccinated or not, it is a private matter and an inappropriate inquiry. People go too far these days in taking the liberty to ask questions and judge a person. Whatever you say ‘Yes, no, maybe, I am thinking about it,’ they will take advantage."
