Holger Rune seemed a bit in trouble against Christopher Eubanks but the Danish player was able to emerge victorious in four sets 6-4 3-6 7-6(2) 6-2.
Rune played a really strong Roland Garros last year making his way into the quarter-final of the event and eventually getting beaten by Casper Ruud. His campaign this year opened with a solid win over Christopher Eubanks though he needed four sets which is a bit unusual considering the American isn't very good on clay.

The first and second set

The first set saw Rune on top after outplaying Eubanks from the baseline. He didn't serve well while Eubanks served really well and that kind of kept him in play. Even so, the better shot-making ability of Rune proved crucial as he got it done 6-4.
The second set saw Eubanks come back in strong fashion taking it 6-3 after Rune continued to struggle with his serve which gave Eubanks some looks that he used. The American had 10 winners in that one and that proved enough to take it.

3rd and 4th set

The next two sets were quite interesting. The third one particularly proved to be the crucial one as Rune took an early breakthrough but gave it right back. He was up a break twice in that set but allowed Eubanks to battle back both times with the set going to a tiebreak. Rune dominated and took it 7-2.
The final set finally saw Rune play as well as he could with Eubanks losing his focus and the level he had for much of this match. It was an easy 6-2 finish for the Danish player who moves one despite not serving that well. That's something to keep an eye on as he will need it down the line.
