Alexander Zverev is through to the
Roland Garros quarterfinal after defeating Kei Nishikori in an impressive fashion.
Alexander Zverev is marching on at Roland Garros as he defeated Kei Nishikori in impressive fashion 6-4 6-1 6-1. The German has been named of the dark horse candidates to win the event by Boris Becker and his level so far has been impressive. His best match came last night against Nishikori who defeated him in Rome. After the match Sasha said:
“I hope I continue playing the same way I did this match. Maybe even better. Now we're in the quarterfinals, there's only eight of us left, and the opponents are not getting easier. You need to perform at your best, play at your best.”
Zverev is not wrong as the remaining field of players at Roland Garros is rather strong. All the best players are still in the draw and Zverev will face Davidovich Fokina next. Zverev is not concerned about who he is facing next as he said after the match:
“No matter who you're playing, they already won four matches. I'm looking forward to that, of course. I know it's not going to be any easier from this moment on.”
Zverev reached the quarterfinal three times at Roland Garros in his career and he will look to better that this year.
