Daniil Medvedev defeated Jannik Sinner in the Open 13 Provence quarterfinals in a stellar fashion setting up a semifinal clash against Matthew Ebden.
The Russian is back to playing strong tennis at the Open 13 Provence where he already won two matches without much trouble. His win against Jannik Sinner was especially impressive considering the Italians prowess as a tough opponent. Following the win Medvedev said during the on-court interview:
“[It is my] first time here in the semi-finals in Marseille, even if it is my fourth time playing here and third time in the main draw. I am really happy about it. Hopefully, I can go further.”
Medvedev is chasing his 10th career title which would be a special thing not just for him but for any player. The way he has played so far he might be able to pull it off. He even admitted to playing on a high level himself:
"This one was easier [than last year]. I think I showed a great level. I was on top of the match the whole time. He had only one break point… Jannik is an amazing player, so I am happy to win that easily this time.”
For a place in the final he will face Matthew Ebden who is playing out of his mind at this event. He took down some big names but Medvedev is the best player he faced by far. The Russian has also all the tools to neutralize the Australian so it will be tough.
