Jannik Sinner lost against Daniil Medvedev at the
Open 13 Provence and after the loss, he said he was not in a rush calming some high expectations.
The Italian has been a talking point in the tennis world ever since he burst onto the scene last year. His meteoric rise caught the attention of many and some even said he is the greatest talent in the past decade. The Italian is well aware of that but after his loss to Medvedev he calmed the high expectations down by saying:
“I’m not in a rush. I just want to improve as much as I can every day."
The Italian underlined that he was not disappointed explaining that this was a good result for him. He also spoke about Medvedev saying he was a great player and explaining he has still a lot to learn if he wants to be on that level yet.
“I think right now he’s the better player than me, honestly. He’s consistent in every single shot: serve, forehand, backhand. It’s not easy playing against him. I was not even playing that bad, honestly. It was a good match from my side"
He continued by saying:
"Today I’ve seen I have to learn so, so many things. I have a long, long way and I’m looking forward tomorrow already to trying to improve. That’s my main goal of the season: trying to improve.”
When asked what his goals were for the season he said he just wanted to improve his game especially when serving. In his opinion, he is not winning enough points and his net play needs to improve as well.
With that sort of mentality, he is surely going to improve and end up being a great player one day. We are excited to see it unfold.
