As well as reaching the final of
Roland Garros,
Novak Djokovic and
Carlos Alcaraz will also battle for the World No.1 spot with a near winner takes all scenario in the ATP Rankings.
If Alcaraz defeats Djokovic, he will guarantee his spot as World No.1 going into Wimbledon. While if Djokovic wins, he will be one win away from a 23rd Grand Slam and a return to World No.1 next Monday.
Alcaraz can not only stop Djokovic returning to World No.1 but also if he wins the title can also take a commanding lead himself.
If he wins Roland Garros, he leaves with 2,140 point lead over Djokovic. While Djokovic will only lead by 420 points if he wins the title. Casper Ruud can only move up to World No.4 by the end of the tournament if he wins his semi-final on Friday.
While in terms of the Race to Turin, Daniil Medvedev could lose top spot with Alcaraz able to reach that summit with a final run in Paris. For Djokovic, winning the title sees him ascend to that point meaning a lot on the line over the next day.
