His US Open withdrawal will have a huge affect on Nick Kyrgios's ranking. Last year he reached the quarters and would be defending 360 points (having already lost a total of 225 points from Canada and Cincinnati) as a result he will drop to 465.
Australia’s star Nick Kyrgios’ rankings are supposed to be impacted in a negative manner after his recent withdrawal from the US Open.
The 28-year-old has been ruled out of the fourth and the final Grand Slam of the year after failing to recover from an injury.
The development was announced by the US Open's official Twitter account on Thursday.
Radio and TV commentator Craig Gabriel, in a post on his official Twitter account, stated that Kyrgios’ rankings might drop to 465 after the recent development.
The recent setback will be a tough pill to swallow for the Canberra-born as it will be the first time since turning pro back in 2012-13 that he will miss all Grand Slams in the calendar year.
The blow has definitely halted Kyrgios’ progress on the court as he had his best year at the highest level in 2022 where he finally managed to play in the final of his maiden and till now the only Grand Slam — Wimbledon.
In that match, he came up against the current world number two Serbia’s Novak Djokovic and ended on the losing side with a score of 4–6, 6–3, 6–4, 7–6.
