Former world number 10
Nick Kyrgios joked with Italy’s young
tennis star
Jannik Sinner and asked him how much he would charge to coach him.
The 22-year-old recently clinched his first Grand Slam title
in Melbourne where he defeated the current world number three Russia’s Daniil
Medvedev in a five-set thriller with a score of 3-6, 3-6, 6-4, 6-4, 6-3.
In a video that appeared on the social media platform Instagram,
Kyrgios asked Sinner in a non-serious manner about how much he would charge to
become his coach.
"Hey Jannik, well done, you are a Grand Slam champion.
My question is: how much can I pay you to be my coach and be able to win a
Slam?" asked the Australian tennis star.
In response to that, Sinner, while laughing, stated that he
could do it for free just but also said that the tennis world needs more players
like Kyrgios.
"Difficult question,” said the current world number
four. “What is certain is that everyone misses you. You are the type of player
you don't see around so often. Your style of play, your way of behaving on the
court, we need of tennis players like you on the Tour. I hope you come back
soon and see you again as soon as possible. I miss you and also you are a
potential Grand Slam champion – I think you know that!"
