Stefanos Tsitsipas represents Greece at the Davis Cup
The ATP Adelaide International is one of the last tournaments for players to feature in before the Australian Open. It will take place from January 12-18 with some top players looking to get off with a solid run in southern Australia.
It is a popular event for many very talented players to compete in with tantalising rewards on the line, including the coveted title. Only a brief selection of athletes have picked up this trophy with the Adelaide International only becoming an event in 2020. While the city did host tennis, it was for the World Tennis Challenge an exhibition. Now with its own ATP event, it is getting more recognition.
Once more, it will have a stacked lineup of tennis talents ready to put on a show Down Under. The top seed with Novak Djokovic's abrupt absence will be Alejandro Davidovich Fokina, who will be looking to clinch his first ATP title to kick off his year.
The 2024 champion Jiri Lehecka is targeting to repeat the good fortunes with the eyes on the prize. The Czech number one will have a lot of pressure from the likes of Jakub Mensik for that prestigious spot at the top of Czech tennis.
Tommy Paul started 2025 on the front foot, climbing into the top 10 thanks to a positive string of results. Injuries have seen him fall down the pecking order, with the hope of finding that spark back in Adelaide. The same for Stefanos Tsitsipas, who continues to slide after a woeful 2025 which was hampered at the end by injuries. He will come off the back of a United Cup defeat against the USA where she showed glimpses of the tennis player once running riot in Australia. While that was in the past, Joao Fonseca's future is looking increasingly bright. With already two titles to his name, a third could be on the horizon.
Viewers in the UK will be able to follow the action from the other side of the world on Sky Sports as usual, with American viewers able to follow Paul's action on the Tennis Channel. Australian followers can keep an eye of the action on beIN Sports Australia.
