ATP Tour action returns to Europe with the traditional Open Occitanie in Montpellier, to be held in France from 2nd to 8th February 2025. The ATP 250 category tournament is played on indoor hardcourts and has as its defending champion the Canadian Félix Auger-Aliassime, who is absent in this edition.
The tournament will kick off the February hardcourt swing, which includes various tournaments in Europe following the Australian swing. The event has been played since 1987—originally in Lyon—and has had historic champions such as Yannick Noah, John McEnroe, Pete Sampras, and Robin Söderling.
In 2010, it moved to Montpellier, where it continues to be held today, having as its first Montpellier champion Gaël Monfils, who won the title three times, followed by players like Jo-Wilfried Tsonga, Alexander Zverev, and Jannik Sinner. The only player to have won the trophy in both locations (Lyon and Montpellier) is the recently retired Richard Gasquet.
For this edition, as usual, the locals will play a major role in the tournament. Three of the eight seeds will be local stars: Ugo Humbert (No. 38), Arthur Fils (No. 42)—making his return to the courts after months of injury—and Valentin Royer (No. 56).
Joining them are players who thrive in indoor hardcourt conditions, such as the top-30 Tomas Machac and Tallon Griekspoor, former world No. 6 Hubert Hurkacz, and former Next Gen ATP Finals champion Hamad Medjedovic. Other French stars joining the draw include Giovanni Mpetshi Perricard (No. 57), Adrian Mannarino (No. 70), and Quentin Halys (No. 79).
