Jannik Sinner couldn't bring home ATP Finals glory as Novak Djokovic gained his revenge in Turin after losing to him in the group stages and the Italian ace even having the chance to dump him out in the event of a loss to Holger Rune.
But he was made to pay the price as some expected as Djokovic readjusted in an utterly superb display to win 6-3, 6-3. Despite that though Sinner who many wondered if he could get on the coattails of Carlos Alcaraz in the race to be the next player post Big Three has made huge strides this season.
Something he zoomed in on during his post match interview on court, he thanked the crowd for making him feel like a 'little child' and that he is a different player than he was twelve months ago with improvements still to be made.
For many the best player all tournament and somebody who has been hoovering up titles in the back end of the season, Turin may not have got their wish tonight of a title, but Sinner certainly takes positives from his run.
“The last 3 months I have played & improved a lot, but even today I saw that we can still improve. The positive things about this 2023 however are different. I am a different player compared to the beginning of the year. You welcomed me like a little child, thank you very much.”
