Novak Djokovic has been crowned the king of the ATP Finals once more defeating Jannik Sinner in a revenge win 6-3, 6-3 in Turin. After losing out in the group stage and the Italian having the chance to eliminate him, this came back to bite him.
Djokovic as ever rose to the occasion and became the record breaking ATP Finals champion unseating Roger Federer with a seventh triumph. Post match, he was especially proud with how he dealt with the final two matches against the two best players in the world barring him and Daniil Medvedev in the words of Djokovic.
He said that he had to adapt after losing to Sinner earlier in the tournament and that is what he did.
“Very special. One of the best seasons I’ve had in my life. To crown it with a win against hometown hero Jannik who’s played amazing tennis this week is phenomenal. I’m very proud of the performances these last 2 days against Alcaraz & Sinner," said Djokovic.
"Probably the best two players in the world next to me & Medvedev at the moment. The way they’ve been playing, I had to step it up. I had to win the matches & not wait for them to hand me the victory. That’s what I’ve done. I’ve tactically played different today than I did in the group stage against Jannik. Overall, phenomenal week.”
