Daniil Medvedev shared his thoughts about becoming a father noting that he felt far more emotional than he thought he would.
Medvedev always gives off a rather calm and collected demeanour even though he is known for the occasional outburst. The Russian even described himself as a cold player in a recent interview in Vienna where he touched upon becoming a father for the first time.
He explained it in typical Medvedev fashion:
“There’s a lot of emotions that I am not able to feel. When I say I am not able to feel, I am not able to feel this [high] calibre because I am a quiet, a bit of a cold person in life and I felt so many good emotions where I was like ‘I’m a sensitive person. I can be a sensitive person’."
He added:
“A lot of fun and a lot of good feelings, but I am a competitor and I want to continue going to tournaments, trying to do my best, winning so I was practicing a lot before coming here. Nothing has changed, I still want to win.”
He made a good start in Vienna easily beating Nikoloz Basilashvili in 61 minutes of play.
