Rafael Nadal was thrashed by
Hubert Hurkacz 6-1, 6-3 at the 2024
Rome Open as he now heads into Roland Garros seemingly downhearted and admitting that he isn't sure what his route is and whether he will play.
Nadal had a good time of it in Barcelona and Madrid in terms of stringing wins together. But he only saw off Zizou Bergs and facing Hurkacz who is seventh seed but not a proficient clay court specialist, it was a chance. But Nadal was pretty poor and his post match interview kind of dictated that.
In an honest admission, he said that he would try to play Roland Garros and try his best to get ready but was left ultimately deflated by that loss.
"I don't want to make a decision yet. There are two possible paths. I think I am not prepared to compete at Roland Garros because of what I have done today. There are two weeks left, we are going to do everything possible to change the situation. Even if it is difficult For me, frustrating, I feel closer to trying. I'm stuck, but I will try as much as possible these two weeks," said Nadal during the Rome Open.
