Nick Kyrgios wasn't in very high spirits following his loss to Hubert Hurkacz in Montreal and the Australian did not hide it.
Kyrgios generally has an okay attitude towards press conferences and doesn't mind doing them for the most part but he's not the biggest fan either. It's particularly obvious when he loses a match and does it with a very disconnected attitude. That's what happened in Montreal and he stated the obvious:
"As for media, I couldn't care less. I do this because I have to be here and I don't want to get fined, so.. I mean, it's routine. I don't really enjoy it, to be honest. I'd rather not be here right now"
Kyrgios is not strange in that regard because most players would rather not do media, especially after a loss. Kyrgios is just one to state the obvious. The Australian was also aware of the Cincinnati draw that happened in the meantime and he simply said he's glad to avoid the big names early:
"I'm just glad I can't play like Medvedev or someone first round. That's all I really care."
That's thanks to his strong play recently which allowed him to raise in the rankings and he'll be a seed at the US Open as well.
