Benoit Paire spoke about the upcoming
Australian Open and the rules that are in place for it blasting unvaccinated players in the process.
Paire is a very known figure in the tennis community for a multitude of reasons that oftentimes don't have much to do with tennis. This time around he spoke about a tennis-related matter with the Australian Open and the rules in place for it. Asked about his opinion on it he said:
"There is no quarantine anymore in Melbourne if you’re vaccinated. Those that are not vaccinated, I don’t care about them. If they don’t play, all the better for me."
Paire was very clear in stating that he does not care about tennis players who are not willing to follow the rules. He also indicated that he does not feel any sympathy for them either which is something that unvaccinated players hoped to get. Most of them feel like mandating vaccination is something that is breaking the rules of free choice.
Commenting further on the next season Paire underlined his motivation to have a great season:
“I don’t care about the other players. I’m motivated to have a great
season next year. If there are some people who are reluctant to get
vaccinated, then they should stay in Europe. It’s not my problem. You have to be vaccinated to go to Australia. I am vaccinated and I’m looking forward to playing there.”
Asked what he thinks will happen move forward Paire expressed belief that most players will ultimately comply:
“At the US Open, everybody was saying that they were going to go
on a strike, that they said that they shouldn’t get vaccinated to go to
Australia, that they were not going to play. But when the season starts again, everybody wants to play.”
