Federer did not play his best tennis and the Polish player took advantage of too many mistakes Federer committed. Some of them came on crucial points which did not help Federer at all who got bageled for the first time at Wimbledon when he lost the final set 6-0. After the match Federer admitted he knew he was not coming back to the match:
"It was tough. Last few games as you can feel you're not coming back from it. I'm not used to that kind of situation very much. Especially not here. The crowd was amazing. That's why I play and why I still play now. Unfortunately, they witnessed a straight-sets defeat."
Federer had chances to level the match in the 2nd set when he took a 2-0 lead but he once again failed to hold onto it. He relied heavily on his forehand which was not on point for the majority of the match. Naturally, Federer was asked if this was his lat Wimbledon to which he responded:
"I don't know. I really don't know. I've got to regroup. My goal was always to try & play another Wimbledon. I was able to make it this year, which I'm really happy about. Everything that comes after we'll have to sit down and talk about it"
