Garbine Muguruza was the guest of honor at the Laureus Awards after announcing her retirement from professional tennis. The Spanish tennis player, a double Grand Slam winner, spoke to Eurosport colleagues about Rafael Nadal and Carlos Alcaraz's chances of doing well at the upcoming Madrid Open:
"I expect it to be very interesting, I want to see Rafa and Carlos and to see the girls, I see it very evenly matched. I would love to see matches, it's in my blood. It is very tough, I see Carlos very well, he will give many surprises and Rafa is Rafa, he continues to fight despite his difficulties with injuries and so on, he is a fighter and we will see him play."
About the next Roland Garros and the Olympic Games he commented the following: "They are very earthly players, I see Carlos very fresh, very young, very excited and Rafa I see him very motivated to continue demonstrating who is the king of the clay, I am sure he will give his best effort. Olympic Games: It would be spectacular if they played the doubles, I don't stop thinking about it. Rafa has already won everything, I want to see how Alcaraz does, it's his first Olympic Games, let's see how he does".
