Jannik Sinner said that nothing has changed in his life in terms of being in a relationship with fellow tennis star,
Anna Kalinskaya. But in his view this is what makes it worthwhile.
Sinner has achieved career best success this season as has his girlfriend with the Italian winning the Australian Open and US Open. Kalinskaya has also hit new heights sitting just outside the top 10 in the WTA Rankings, reaching multiple Grand Slam milestones and having her epic run in Dubai losing out to Jasmine Paolini.
But as well as form on the court, she has also been a steady figure off it in his box including at the US Open where they shared a heartwarming kiss. While Sinner initially didn't want details of his private life going public and that is still partly the case having a girlfriend also on the tennis tour has meant he has had to embrace it.
He said in Esquire that he wanted his relationship to seamlessly fit into his life and not be an alterer but instead fit like a jigsaw piece. He said it works perfectly for this balance.
"I don't think anything has changed. Having a girlfriend is something that either makes you feel good or makes you feel bad. I want it to be something that feels very natural, which comes into my life normally. I can't afford to change as a player or as a person. That hasn't happened, that's why it works," Sinner said to Esquire.
He also discussed their US Open kiss as well as how they won't be giving each other tips on the tennis court anytime soon.
"It was a nice moment. We just support each other as much as we can," Jannik Sinner said.
"As tennis players we are, you know, different. I am different also to other tennis players. But for sure I always try to support her because she also tries to support me, giving some positive energy," he added.
