Carlos Alcaraz saved a match point in the fourth set and rallied from 0-3 in the fifth set to defeat countryman Albert Ramos-Vinolas 6-1, 6-7(7), 5-7, 7-6(2), 6-4 for a place in the third round
Roland Garros.
Speaking to Mats Wilander following the match Alcaraz admitted that he is feeling a bit tired following a very dramatic match that lasted 4 and a half hours:
"I feel tired. It has been a great battle against Albert. I knew that it was going to be a great match, tough match. We fought until the last point. I'm so happy with the performance today."
It was a very excellent match and Alcaraz defined the laws of physics several times during the match leaving the crowd completely stunned with his performance. He thanked the crowd who was behind him the entire day:
"I'm so happy to live this experience in front of you guys. Thank you very much!"
He also admitted to feeling at home in Paris which could help him move forward. He did declare two weeks ago that he was ready to win the
French Open.
