Jannik Sinner admitted to feeling really flat against Daniil Medvedev having been stripped of his energy level due to feeling sick when he woke up that morning.
It was not a very good Sunday for Jannik Sinner who was facing quite a bit of adversity before the match. In addition to his 0-5 lifetime record against his Russian opponent Sinner also dealt with another problem and it was fatigue. He was right there with Medvedev for 10 games but eventually, he felt more and more tired and he couldn't hang on. It ended in defeat to Medvedev, making him 0-6 all-time against Medvedev.
He explained what had happened after the match:
“I woke up not in the best possible way. I felt a little bit sick, but we tried, you know, to go on the court, trying to give it a shot, give it a try. Unfortunately, today was not my day.”
He did praise Medvedev for his level calling his victory the right outcome:
“I don’t want to take nothing away from Daniil. He was serving incredible. He was very brave with the way he played today. Obviously is one of the best players in the world. I tried. Today was not my day. Now it’s clay season.”
He also touched upon his poor record against Medvedev:
“I think also today we learned a lot for the next match. [Daniil] Is for me one of the toughest opponents, for sure. The head-to-head says it. Let’s see in the next match.”
