Alexander Zverev is likely to miss the rest of the year as he experienced a setback in his return from an ankle injury.
The German was carted off after injuring his ankle during a Roland Garros match against Nadal and ever since then he's been slowly working towards returning. His return was set for this week with Germany hosting other countries in Hamburg for the
Davis Cup but it won't happen as he experienced a setback in his recovery process.
Upon intensifying practices, Zverev experienced 'extreme' pain which causes his discomfort during talking now:
"I guess I did too much and now I'm in extreme pain. I need to be sensible, otherwise it could be dangerous for the future."
The diagnosis following the setback is fluid in his ankle which increases the risk of another fracture. He was quite grim about his tennis prognosis admitting that it's likely months:
"We're talking about weeks, and in all likelihood months. For Zverev it's about being ready for next year and the Australian Open. He won't be rushing again.
