Rafael Nadal won the 2022 Roland Garros largely thanks to daily injections into his foot that allowed him to play without pain.
Speaking about the situation while playing at the BOSS OPEN in Stuttgart, Tsitsipas recalled a similar situation where he was forced to do what Nadal did during the entirety of Roland Garros. He said:
“There was a match I thought I couldn’t play because I felt too much pain. Not to the point of Rafa, but I had a similar situation at the ATP Finals. I felt extreme pain in my leg."
Tsitsipas was able to play the match and he explained that it was actually one of his best ever he played:
"They gave me an injection, and I played one of the best matches of my life.”
The Greek tennis player lost today in the quarterfinal of Stuttgart against Andy Murray.
