Novak Djokovic will not have
Andy Murray in his corner this next week at the
Monte-Carlo Masters with the 24-time Grand Slam champion joking that he has no idea where he is.
Instead Djokovic will count on the services not of a normal coach but his brother Marko who has accompanied him to the tournament. The hope of course will be that Murray returns for Madrid and Rome in the coming weeks.
But for now, Murray is at home with his family said Djokovic and he said joking he probably is working on his golf swing and that is his priority this week.
"I have no idea, to be honest (where Murray is)," Djokovic joked.
"I spoke to him about, four or five days ago, and he was back home. Occupied with family and I guess he's working on his golf swing because that's his priority this week.
"My brother Marko was able to join me, so that helps me on a different level emotionally. To have some time with him on the road, I don't get to see him much, it's great for me."
After reaching the final in Miami, there were injury doubts about Djokovic in regards to Monte-Carlo but he has turned up to the Monagasque tournament and will start his campaign later this week. He could yet face Stan Wawrinka in a battle of the sports elder statesman.
He had a lump under his eye so his participation this week was in fact in doubt.
"It started on the semi finals day in Miami and I did struggle with it in the finals but it's calming down," he said.
"I'm glad that I found in Miami that joy on the court and, I feel, the best performance level. It's more about trying to get matches and as many as possible, and obviously to try to peak towards the end of the clay season."
