Novak Djokovic is going to take a rest after the US Open final with the Serbian revealing he has no plans for the rest of 2021 as of now.
Novak Djokovic got very emotional several times after the US Open final defeat revealing that he was glad it was finally over. Djokovic proved to be only human after the match tearing when speaking on his family saying he spending a lot of time away from his family and it's taking a toll on him. That prompted many to question him on his plans for the rest of 2021 and he said:
“Let me tell you – I have no plan, absolutely nothing- I don’t know if I’m going to play anything, anywhere… I’m just here in New York right now.”
While it is widely expected that Djokovic will still play a few events in the 2021, especially the ATP Finals, it's unclear when Djokovic will return to the courts. The next major event is the Indian Wells Masters next month but it seems like Djokovic might skip that one. He further said:
“I think that I really tried to do everything in my power to prepare in the best possible way, to bring myself to the optimal state of body, mind, and spirit. I really don’t know what I would change, I really did my best… I simply played against a better player – who had more enthusiasm and energy.”
