Roger Federer has been closely following what has been going in China with Shuai Peng and the Swiss underlined that the tennis community is strong.
It's been a very grim few days for the tennis community in the world as everyone around the world is watching what has been going on in China. Shuai Peng is apparently safe and sound but neither the WTA nor other international organizations like the United Nations are not content with the information Chinese media have been reporting.
A lot of tennis players have spoken out publicly on the situation and among them was probably the most popular tennis player to ever walk the Earth, Roger Federer. Speaking on it he said that he hopes she is safe:
"I hope she is safe. We are all united around her. Tennis tour is my second family, I have been on the pro tour for 20-25 years so I am connected to every ATP and WTA player."
Federer also said he spoke to ATP CEO Andrea Gaudenzi on the matter urging the organization to back the WTA in taking a firm stance on the issue. He is not alone in that as Novak Djokovic has also backed the WTA in doing everything they think is necessary to ensure the safety of Peng.
