Alexander Zverev wins 2021 ATP Finals

Alexander Zverev routinely defeated Daniil Medvedev 6-4 6-4 in the 2021 ATP Finals winning his 2nd trophy overall.

It's been a good event for Zverev in Turin but the most important thing for the German is that his two best-played matches came in the semifinal and final. He was pretty sensational against Djokovic yesterday but today he was arguably even better. As good as Medvedev played so far in this event, the Russian was not that good in the final.

Most of that came because Zverev was simply superb. From the start, the German was locked into the match with a very clear plan of how to win that match. On his own serve it came down to serving extremely well which he was able to do. Medvedev tried a multitude of different approaches in the match but none of them worked.

The German blasted service winner after service winner. On return, it was about being aggressive at times not allowing Medvedev to drag him into long rallies. The interesting thing was that even when he needed it was Zverev who was better. The German was fiding great angles and with variety always kept Medvedev guessing.

The Russian tried a very aggressive approach in the 2nd set but even that worked rarely. Zverev had all the answers when he needed to do and it worked out for him. This trophy is the 2nd one from the ATP Finals he won and it's very deserved.
