Novak Djokovic is not the most popular tennis player of all time and most of that comes from the fact that the Serbian was never shied away from speaking his mind.
Tennis is a fairly conservative sport that usually tends to deal with things by sweeping them under the carpet and Novak Djokovic has never been about that. The Serbian always presented himself as someone who will the truth no matter the cost and he never shied away from voicing his opinions despite them oftentimes going against the majority of the tennis public.
Speaking to Serbian media during the ATP Finals Djokovic explained why he thinks that there is a monopoly system in tennis and why he is determined to fight against it. He said:
"Instead of saying "this is not right, it is not fair, I will fight for the other person, who is less fortunate than me. They choose the easier way. I know that I am a thorn in the side of many, I try to break the monopoly system that has been in our sport for many years."
Djokovic further said:
"We fight for exactly these guys and girls. They put in effort, but they aren't listened to. The elite wants to rise while these players fight. That's why this little guy from Serbia is here to intervene and to show them how it should be done."
