Carlos Alcaraz has admitted that he aims to enhance his performance in the latter part of the year for the 2024 season, following his loss at the US Open trophy and disappointing results in the season's closing stages for the second consecutive year. The Spaniard faded from the spotlight in the last few months, casting doubts on his consistency throughout the entire year.

The two-time Grand Slam champion showcased a remarkable performance at Wimbledon, clinching the title against Novak Djokovic in the final. However, following his exit in the semifinals at Flushing Meadows, where he also lost the world No. 1 ranking, Alcaraz experienced a dip in his usual form.

The 20-year-old tennis sensation acknowledged that he wasn't at his best in the final months of 2023 and expressed his hope to improve his results in future seasons. "For example, another thing I need to be better at is the final part of the season, after the U.S. Open. (It doesn’t end when the tournament finishes). I need to keep training, and keep maintaining myself and my focus, to have a better finish. It needs to be better than what I did this year," stated Alcaraz.

Despite not performing at his usual level, he experienced a resurgence in the ATP Finals, advancing to the second round with victories over Andrey Rublev and Daniil Medvedev. However, he fell to Alexander Zverev in the round-robin stage and was ultimately eliminated in the semifinals against Djokovic.

Alcaraz reflected on the year, saying, "It has been an incredibly good year. I started off on the wrong foot withdrawing from Australia, but Wimbledon was spectacular. Though, I actually thought the year would be more difficult. That it would be difficult to match 2022."

Alcaraz also shared his most significant lesson of the year, hoping it will help him overcome challenging moments in matches: "One thing I learned in 2023 is how to face (and move past) certain on-court situations, such as what happened against Djokovic at Roland-Garros," concluded the world No. 2.
